Association for Conflict Resolution - Chicago Chapter
On Tuesday, April 26, 2016, ACR Chicago and the John Marshall Law School will host a discussion with Judge Margaret Mullen of the Circuit Court of Lake County, Illinois. Judge Mullen will share her personal approach to pre-trial settlement conferences in Lake County, including whether and how they differ from formal, out-of-court ADR processes. Her Honor will share stories of settlement conferences that went well and ones that didn’t (keeping all names and personal details confidential, of course). Judge Mullen will discuss how and in what ways attorney advocacy can either facilitate or hinder settlements, and describe from her perspective what effective advocacy looks like. Her Honor will comment on the role of the courts in promoting settlement and ADR generally, as well as challenges that arise when a judge presiding over a case steps in to facilitate settlement negotiations. Finally, Judge Mullen will field questions from you, our members, regarding any aspect of her work and her views on conflict resolution.
We hope that you will join us for this interesting and engaging program with Judge Mullen!
