Through a combination of role-play, lecture, simulation, discussion and videotapes, this workshop takes participants through the process of divorce mediation from the orientation session to completed memorandum of agreement. Approved by Illinois courts and the Association for Conflict Resolution/Family Section. A charge of $40 will be added for Illinois lawyers wishing to receive MCLE and Professionalism credits. 36 MCLE credits and 36 Professionalism credits approved. Social work credits are also available.

CCR (The Center for Conflict Resolution) is looking to for a volunteer intern to assist in key projects related to development and volunteer management. This will entail exposure to the field of conflict resolution that will be very helpful to those seeking to pursue a career as neutrals. Please see attached position announcement for more details. ABA Dispute Resolution
The ABA Dispute Resolution section is recruiting local attorneys and mediators to assist in the national Representation in Mediation competition that will be held here in Chicago during their annual spring conference April 3-4, 2013. This competition is a chance for law students to demonstrate their skill in advocating for clients in the mediation session. The attorneys will evaluate the student performances, and the mediators will mediate the mock mediation sessions. Please see attached announcement for more details. Chicago Housing Authority Hiring Hearing Officers

Exceptional and interesting opportunity for neutrals or trial attorneys with 5-25 years of experience to serve as Hearing Officers for the Chicago Housing Authority’s (“CHA”) Housing Choice Voucher Program.

Candidates must be quick learners, excellent communicators, and logical and clear writers.  Applicants must possess strong people skills, tact, diplomacy and at times, a sense of humor.  Candidates must be licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois. 

The Hearing Officers will serve as independent contractors and will be required to sign a short independent contractor agreement with the CHA.  The Hearing Officers will be paid $600 per case brought to hearing; however, no benefits will be provided.   There will also be a 3 - 4 day training beginning in late September/early October, and a one-time stipend will be provided for both the training and all subsequent meetings with the Chief Hearing Officer and/or other Hearing Officers throughout the duration of the contract.    A standard background security check is also required.
