Exceptional and interesting opportunity
for neutrals or trial attorneys with 5-25 years of experience to serve as
Hearing Officers for the Chicago Housing Authority’s (“CHA”) Housing Choice
Voucher Program.
Candidates must be quick learners,
excellent communicators, and logical and clear writers. Applicants must possess strong people skills,
tact, diplomacy and at times, a sense of humor.
Candidates must be licensed to practice law in the State of
Illinois.
The Hearing Officers will serve as
independent contractors and will be required to sign a short independent
contractor agreement with the CHA. The
Hearing Officers will be paid $600 per case brought to hearing; however, no
benefits will be provided. There will also
be a 3 - 4 day training beginning in late September/early October, and a one-time
stipend will be provided for both the training and all subsequent meetings with
the Chief Hearing Officer and/or other Hearing Officers throughout the duration
of the contract. A standard
background security check is also required.
